There wasn't a whole lot in the book about sexual pain disorders so I decided to get tested. I was diagnosed with VVS/vaginismus. I'm still failing at inserting tampons, though my partner can now get in one finger - woo hoo! Does anyone else here experience discomfort during sex/intimate touching?
I've been doing the diet for about three weeks now and I can barely pay attention during class... started lusting after my biochem prof, haha! I seem to have much more energy, less stressed about school/work, I've lost my "frosh 15" already, lubrication is much higher now and intimacy has become more enjoyable if not less painful. I will be beginning my VVS treatment sessions next week and I believe that with this double program I will improve more quickly. Does anyone else have thoughts on this? |

I think I mention near the beginning of the book that sexual pain disorder is the one thing my diet won't help. On the other hand, it does help with management of pain in general so that might provide some incremental help.
I'd be very interested in any feedback you can give me, thanks for this post! |

I'd like to give a short update:
This diet WORKS. I had stopped the diet for a few weeks and felt my libido, energy levels and mood drop like a rock. Another two weeks of eating healthier and I'm feeling a case of spring fever coming on. I'm doing a program offered at the local hospital that includes both physiotherapy and group counselling sessions for the treatment of VVS. I've learned from experience and in my sessions that an increase of desire and arousal and a decrease in stress and tension can lessen the pain. In addition to this, the cause of vaginal pain in some women is due to poor circulation and weak pelvic floor muscles, both of which are helped by toning exercises (and probably the anticoagulant properties of the omega-3). I've also started the dilation exercises for my physiotherapy today. It's going slowly but I'm more optimistic than I was a few months ago. This diet hasn't cured my VVS altogether but I'd be lying to say that it hasn't helped somewhat. Anything that helps to quicken the process and provide to a more rounded, healthy lifestyle and better outlook on sex definitely deserves my thanks. Hope this helps! |

Thank you so much for your feedback! I was wondering how my diet would do in helping with vaginismus.
