Hello,

Am awaiting receipt of a copy of the Orgasmic Diet book but it's taking a much longer time than anticipated. And I wonder if it will specifically address this question or area. Have the supplements, exercise, and diet helped menopausal women to improve elasticity of the vagina?

Are there other menopausal women on this board who have experienced elasticity or vaginal muscle flexibility as the main issue? with libido and lubrication as no problem at all? If so, what was your experience? How long did it take to make good headway? Are there any other suggestions or things you learned from your experience that you'd care to share?

Marrena, I'd love comment from you as well if you see this post.

Hi again, Alix here.
I just posted my first post here. It worked...hooray! So to give a bit more background... I'm nearing 60 and have not had a man in my life romantically for so long I can *almost* not even remember sex. ;-)

Surprise, surprise, I met an awesome man and a beautiful relationship has evolved. Sexually, I have no lack of libido when it comes to him! And no lack of lubrication. HOWEVER, entry into the vagina...well, it's almost like a brick wall!

What I sense is that there seems to be a super-tight ring of muscle very near the vaginal entrance that nothing can penetrate. I have experimented a bit with a few objects that are penis-like, using extra lubricant in case that might help. No dice for something of actual penis diameter. An object of one inch diameter was fine, no problem. Larger than that, say 1.5 inch diameter, major problem! No amount of effort can get it in more than just a teensy way, no further than maybe one inch, if that. And that's with substantial pain and then I'm sore for a day or two, so assume I may have stretched something a bit.

I have not yet gotten and tried the gyneflex yet. Anyone have a similar situation and have comments on the gyneflex or other stretching method that might be more suitable to a tight, tight situation? In the pictures, the gyneflex looks larger than the inch I seem to be able to successfully get in there.

Also, I called my health provider and they *seemed* clueless about the topic of vaginal stretching. Should I go in to the gynecologist anyway and hope I end up with someone conversant in this area? Or am I expressing my problem in a way that is not helpful to them? I do have a new job, so taking off time for anything is not a trivial matter.

Comments anyone? Even if it's a "I've had this problem too, haven't found the solution yet," I'd love to hear about it. Of course, hearing of solutions and successes would be better still! I've done a lot of hunting on the Internet and read many of the messages on this board and others (and have tried the search functions) and am not finding much on this particular problem. There may be material and discussion...I'm just not finding it... and starting to feel pretty lonely here! I'm seeing more about menopausal libido and lubrication issues and those areas are not at all problem areas... I should probably feel lucky that those areas aren't also problematic!

The further detail is very helpful! It sounds like what you have is vaginismus. The Gyneflex may help with that, but you may also need some more pertinent advice.

Over at bermansexualhealth.com, they have a messageboard. If you do a search on "vaginismus" you should find a starting place. One thing I do remember is that one woman successfully stretched herself out over time by using carrots of the appropriate diameter. She put a condom over the carrot, used lube, and left it inside for twenty minutes a day. Gradually the size increased, until she was able to comfortably accomodate her partner.

Bless you! A name--or likely name--to the condition is super great. And ideas or referral to any source of help or solace!
