Well, I have some great news for your research but bad news for me. I wrote last week to tell you that I was feeling great. I had been on the diet for almost three weeks and my libido was soaring! On Saturday night I went out and had been drinking. Consequently, I came home late, at chips and set the stage for Superbowl Sunday...junk all day long. Monday came and I woke up 5 pounds heavier, depressed, and ZERO libido which should be sky high since I am close to ovulation.
I am amazed at the connection between diet, mood swings, and overall well-being. I am committed to being back on the diet today. How long will it take to get back in the swing of things?
One other question, I did notice that I am not regular being on the vitamins. I take one Costco brand daily vitamin with two fish oil supplements (EPA 480/DHA 400) in the morning, a Costco brand Calcium Citrate with D,K, Mag, and Zinc and two fish oils for lunch, and one more fish oil for dinner. I am 5'3" @ 125 lbs. Should I be taking more fish oil?
The amount is for two tablets. It is a little less than recommded in your book, but, since I was feeling increased libido, I thought it was enough. I just wonder if the other vitamins have too many fillers and that's what is causing my problem. Anyway, I know that's not your area of expertise.
I really just wanted to share about the mood change....truly, truly amazing. I can't believe a programmer could figure this out but not the plethora of doctors out there...just goes to show you that it really isn't a priority...they'd rather drug us up, mask our problems and say we're all crazy! My doctor tried to put me on meds and I refused. I knew it was hormonal....AGAIN, THANK YOU for the validation!
Don't underestimate the influence of Big Pharma on the American medical system. Doctors are not trained in nutrition, there is zero funding for research on non-pharmaceutical ways to treat disease, non-favorable results of pharmaceutical trials are masked.
Part of the reason I wrote my book was in hopes of causing such a stir that I could get grant money for my research. I have a PI at Columbia University ready to study, protocol is written, I have an offer to publish in a peer-reviewed medical journal, but with the IRB laws all testing on human subjects must be done by an MD, following specific rules, so it costs $100,000 even for a small preliminary study. Only pharmaceutical companies have that kind of cash to spread around, so natural healing methods remain unproven, for the most part.
As I told you, I went off the diet for a few days and I can't get back that great feeling again. I have struggled to be consistent with the diet and pills since then. My hormones seem to be completely going crazy! I feel like my need to eat all those things that are so bad for this diet is completely out of control.
It is definitely PMS time...I feel lousy....depressed, unmotivated, fat, very sore breasts....all the things I wasn't feeling a few weeks ago. Not to mention it's only been three weeks since my period and I have never been regular, cycle is usually 35 days.
I don't know how to avoid the cravings and concentrate on what I know I should be doing? Is it because of those few days that I am feeling so crazy!?
Please tell me that I just need to be consistent and I will feel my libido soar, my hormones will balance, and I will not succumb to eating all this crap!!!!
Also forgot to mention that constipation is a serious problem for me. I was taking the very close to the recommended amount of fish oil but still a problem. A bit of humor...I hid my book so that my 3 boys wouldn't find it and I can't find it either!!! I am desperately searching so I can figure out what pills I can do without to avoid the constipation without interfering with the hormone balance part.
I am really frustrated with myself. Things were so good three weeks ago. Orgasm was easy. Libido high. I felt great. Now it all just sucks!
How did you not give in to craving all the things you shouldn't be eating? I feel like a smoker with lung cancer who can't stop!?!?!
As far as constipation goes, I have tried everything but the best most natural product is Aloe Vera capsules.usually sold in health food stores. They need to be at least 500 mg and as pure as possible. Try one capsule first, then increase as needed. One is usually enough!!
I am VERY surprised that constipation is an issue on the full dosage of fish oil. Stop taking the iron, if so, and try to eat more fiber--more vegetables and whole grains.
Women are cyclical. Our libido is cyclical, our hormones are cyclical. Accept and celebrate this fact. It is perfectly natural for women to want to raise serotonin in the last half of their cycle, and it's also natural for libido to be less during that time.
For some reason, I have heard anecdotal evidence that my diet shortens periods down to around 28 days or so.
Making sure to take the calcium/magnesium/zinc, getting enough Vitamin D and getting regular exercise will help with the PMS symptoms.
Mafiaprincess, Same thing happened to me. Diet worked fantastic for 3 weeks, then I went off it for four days, and haven't been able to get that great feeling back since. I was hoping it was just cyclic but it has been 2 1/2 months now. Please let me know if you find anything that works for you to bring back the feeling again.
Marrena, what morning after pill are you talking about? I didn't take any pill! I am still not back on the diet....trying but at this point my hormones are so crazy I figured I'd start back up again after my period starts. My breasts are as if I'm pregnant!!!!
I am really amazed at how this whole female system works. I was trying to talk to my sister-in-law who has regular, 28 day cycles and no PMS. I couldn't believe she never experiences PMS. I've always felt that my irregular cycle was due to hormone imbalance, hence mood swings and the whole series of issues that goes along with it.
I believe that there is merit to that....I'd bet the people that need your diet most are those who have irregular periods! Do you ever wonder if this diet could help people who have trouble with conception?
Well, haven't gotten my period yet...I think my body just went crazy when I suddenly stopped taking all the pills.
However, I've been on track for a few days with the pills and using the GyneFlex again. Just wondering...does anyone find it difficult to not masturbate when doing these exercises? Is this normal?
That's the problem. I do my workouts in the morning, when the kids are gone at school. Sex comes after they go to sleep. Since all my orgasms now are clitoral, I feel like I should wait so that I'll be 'ready' at night, but I can't help it!!! I'm hoping on this diet, I'll be 'ready' all the time!!
