I feel so stupid.. I've just noticed that the fish oil pills I've been taking give a serving size for taking 4 capsules and not 1. I've been taking 5 or 6 a day when I should have been taking 20!!.. So check the bottle girls and make sure the amount of EPA and DHA is per capsule and not per serving of 3 or 4 capsules!
However although I haven't noticed any particular increase in libido I have had two consecutive nights with erotic dreams (followed by a rather unpleasant dream with my husband telling me he was marrying a second wife to have as well as me! - what's that about??) - I'm sure that dreams were mentioned in the book somewhere as being a good sign.
I also really noted Marrena's comments about being hypersensitive to music... I used to love music but in recent years have become indifferent to it (would rather have talk radio than music radio).. Looking back it's likely this happened around the same time my libido disappeared.
I was a vegetarian for 5 or 6 years before I lost my libido - and my diet wasn't very good - very high on wheat and cheese, low on fruit and veg and protein, so I'm sure that had an impact.
My diet now has lots of fish in it, but my digestion is poor and I have digestive problems which also probably don't help matters. Ladies who note that the diet doesn't seem to work may consider whether they have IBS or IBD and this may affect how well they absorb the supplements. Some studies suggest as many as 50% of the population have digestive problems.
I will bump up the fish oil to the suggested 20 (gulp) capsules and report back in a couple of weeks)
Just found Naturesbest online. Their fish oil is 360mg EPA + 240mg DHA. They claim to be strongest available in the UK. But it seems very reasonably prices (£20 for 240 capsules). Has anyone tried this?
I was in Holland & Barrett this morning and they have a promotion on Chia Seed Oil - which is very high in Omega 3 (500mg per capsule - but also contains 200mg Omega 6 and 150mg Omega 9). I'd never heard of it before today, but coincidentally got a health-zine email raving about it as well this afternoon. A quick read on the web shows this seed is growing in popularity in the US and has been well researched. It seems difficult to buy the seed in the UK - I'm waiting for a reply from H&B to see if they have plans to stock it. Does anyone know about this oil? How would this ratio work for your diet?
I posted a recommendation on Natures Best fish oil a few threads ago under the title Fish oil brand for UK residents, we are still taking it, and are very pleased with the results, my wife sometimes complains that her hair gets greasy, but that is all.
