I've been on the diet for several months, but I've really had difficulty with taking the fish oil regularly. I had to be very careful to make sure I ate enough before I took the pills because they made me very nauseous. And a lot of times I would forget to take some of the pills during the day, and then if I tried to catch up in the evening, it always ended up making me feel sick.
I recently bought some liquid fish oil since I can take a pretty concentrated dose twice a day and get my full amount. I was worried about the taste, but its not bad at all. It was a little odd at first, but after just a few days I am used to it and don't mind it one bit. Its much, much better than the troubles I was having with the pills. Anyhow, just wanted to share in case anyone else has had as much trouble with the pills as I have had!
Thanks for the feedback! It's good to experiment with fish oil brands if you are having stomach upset. Usually the more refined the brand, the easier on the tummy.
Right now I'm taking Nordic Naturals Ultimate Omega liquid. Previously, I tried all kinds of pills, including GNC and just about everything at the natural food store. I pretty much had the same problem with all of them. Part of it was my forgetfulness, and forgetting to take pills throughout the day, so then if I had to play catch up at night, it always made me nauseous.
Nordic Naturals is the brand I use as well. I attended a presentation last year regarding the process of obtaining the fish oil and the commitment to quality and purity that this company has. Their oil tastes so smooth and fresh that it is actually a pleasure to take.
Thanks for the suggestion! I'll look into it if my current fish oil keeps being hard on my stomac. And they taste blegh. Yesterday I made the mistake of dropping two capsules on an empty stomac. Another suggestion I got on the internet becuase it would fight oxidation. Well, thats not a very helpfull tip.
I was shaky and dizzy for at least an hour. Not good.
