With Minami you have to take a combination of the MorEPA and the MorDHA to get the right balance.

I actually just increased my dosage from 5 caps a day to 6 so I'm going to pay close attention to my body this cycle. I haven't had any digestive issues other than occasional fishy/lemony burps for a little while after taking the caps. It doesn't happen all the time. At 6 caps, my EPA is over the amount recommended in the book so I'll have to watch for bruising, etc., but at 5 caps I was way below the recommended amount of DHA. I think I'll check out the Minami stuff when I'm close to running out of the GNC. Sounds like I can get closer to the right dosage without going over.

I usually recommend women who are low on DHA to supplement with a DHA-specific brand like Carlson's Super-DHA. That's what I do. I take the Sears brand and then extra Super-DHA.

Thanks for the tip! I'll check around for that.

Ur so helpful, thanks Marrena!
I'm currently taking Nature's Bounty fish oil. What do you think of that brand? Also, I'm about 5'4 and weight 120 pounds and taking about six fish oil pills a day. Do you think that amount will be effective? Thanks again for all the help! PS - I just dried dark chocolate today thats 77% cocoa. WOW, definitely not like the other chocolate i've had. I don't think I have to worry about over eating that stuff, lol! |

Marrena,
I started on the concentrated Costco brand...seemed okay then I ran out. When I went to get more, they changed the product and it now has soy it in!!! Steering clear of that, I went to the Carlson Super Omega 3 concentrate. I thought that would be okay but I am one of the women that is experiencing the change is discharge. I tried to find the Sears brand and am not having any luck. Can you point me to a link? Also, as for the Minami, the only product I saw had things other than EPA and DHA. I didn't think you recommended that?! |

That's what I take, and I add Carlson's Super-DHA to get the right mix. And what the hell, if you sign up for it and mention my name I get a discount on mine. As long as I'm posting this, might as well. For Minami you have to combine two products: http://www.minami-nutrition.us/omega3/pregnancy.php and http://www.minami-nutrition.us/omega3/emotional.php I should reiterate--both of these brands are expensive. Cheaper brands will work just fine, as long as you get a brand that has EPA + DHA > 500 mg per one one-gram capsule. However, if your digestive system is particularly sensitive or if you are concerned about fishy odor or if you are taking fish oil also to help depression or some other condition or especially if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, I recommend these two brands. Hi Marrena-
I'm currently on the GNC Triple Strength FO(647EPA, 253DHA per cap), and Carlsons Super DHA (500mg) and am taking 3 of the GNC and 1 Carlson daily. Yesterday my man pointed out that my lube is much more 'watery' than it had been previously, but thankfully there isn't too much of a different odor. Is that change in viscosity usual? He says he prefers it as previously it gripped and pulled him a bit too much, sending him off the edge rather quickly while now, he just slide along quite nicely so I'm not complaining. Just curious. I think my change in odor was linked to my menstrual cycle as I don't seem to smell differently now. As always, thanks for the info! Huntng4Os |
