Hi Marenna -
A little confused about the chocolate issue - which is the best part of your diet, by the way!
In some places I've read 1 ounce of dark chocolate, other places you've recommended 1/2 ounce of dark chocolate.
Currently I am eating 1 square of Dove Promises Dark Chocolate (which I believe is 1 ounce) -- want to know if I should cut this in half.
Also, you mentioned something about caffeine affecting libido. So...since the chocolate has caffeine should I eat in th morning hours if I would like my libido to be in full swing in the evening.. .or does it matter???
Thanks!!!

Actually I think a half ounce is three of those. I'd have to check. I usually eat mine in the morning.

Yahhhhh.. I get to eat more of the chocolate!!! I looked on the bag and it said 5 pieces are 40 grams. How that translates into ounces...I haven't a clue!??!!

A half ounce is fifteen grams. So actually two pieces. But three won't hurt! Smiler

How much cacao should the dark chocolate be made up of? 70% is on the bitter side. 60% is more to my taste.

Dove also has a sugar free dark chocolate that tastes really good. I'm not sure what is used instead of sugar to give it some sweetness.

It does have a warning on the package that says if you eat too much at once it may have a laxative effect - a serving size is 5 peices (40g), so you'd have to eat more than that for the laxative effect...so on your diet, just eating 2 pieces (1/2 oz.) that wouldn't be an issue.

Any thoughts on the sugar free chocolate?

A laxative effect! Rather disturbing. I don't mind bitter chocolate myself, sometimes in a pinch I've made do with bakers' chocolate.

Whatever sugar substitute they are using can't be good for you if it does that! I'd say just skip the chocolate if you can't have sugar and you can't stand unsweetened chocolate.

I can have sugar, but my personal trainer is all about no sugar and had the sugar-free Dove Dark Chocolate for Halloween....I love my chocolate - especially dark chocolate - so she suggested I get them, but when I saw the warning it made me wonder what was in them to give a laxative effect if you ate too many.

I think only having a 1/2 oz. a day, I'll stick with the regular dark chocolate - sugar and all Smiler.

A lot of the sugar free candies use sugar alcohols, which can do a number on your digestive tract.

The amount of sugar in dark chocolate is so small that I just don't even think about it.

Hmm I wonder if only having 1/2 ounce of those sugar free ones would have an effect. I'm also looking for a low calorie way to have the chocolate. Can sugar free fudgicals count lol? What about instant hot chocolate? Sorry I know I'm reaching but just want to know! I just bought the Dove dark chocolates and they are yummy. Before that I had the Lindt 70% dark and Hershey's Cocao Reserve dark.
