The irony is that I actually answered your question.
I get asked variations of the fish oil dosage question multiple times a day at various boards and by e-mail. I have a regular job and kids; I'm honestly worried one time I will make a math error and tell someone the wrong dosage, perhaps dangerously high. Most people who help women become more orgasmic either charge by the hour (a lot) or they put their advice in a book and are completely inaccessible. There are plenty of people who give other people sex advice online, but they don't generally have my track record. I'm somewhat tired of this whole thing, to be honest, I just don't have the stamina. At the beginning I tried to give this information to people who give sex advice as a full-time job but no one would listen to me. So I've had to do it myself, but I'd be much obliged if you would tell people you know after trying it, because I am tired and I've pretty much gone as far as I can on my own. I'm not asking for your help because I'm trying to make money off you; I don't actually make much per book, being a first-time author and all. I'm asking for your help because I'm talking about something true that women need to know. It's not right that women don't know about these sexual facts about their bodies. I wouldn't even mind if you take my information and give it away--the bare bones of the diet can be written in one page. You don't even have to say my name or the name of my book (although make sure to keep the medical warnings about drug interactions and checking with your doctor about existing conditions). But if you go on my diet and you get the results you should tell other women. We are all sisters. |

Hi New York :-)
I remember the comment you are referring too. I think the problem with commenting is you are not seeing the person and just look at the words, depending on what mood you are in you can take it either way.... Personally I weigh 209lbs (yikes!) and I am only 5ft 2' and my size is not in the book either, but apart from that I am happy with the book and delighted to read the comments from other women and Marrena.( BTW I am fairly confident I figured out the dosage ;-) I think Marrena was just being honest and to be fair seems to get back to people quickly and in a positive manner. Lets support each other and I for one am glad we have the internet with great forums that we can educate ourselves. I wish I had known all this 20 + years ago, Cheers ! |

Hey New York!
Wow, that's quite the strong words you've got going on there; sounds like you are ready to hit the OK Corral! Personally I think Marrena is doing a fine job here on the board; she is quick to respond to the questions posted, usually within 12-24 hours, and while sometimes her responses can be curt she still provides the info requested, so simmer down a tad, will you? I can understand why you may have been offended at her "I've already answered that" response and if you look back through the archives you will see just how many times she is asked that question. A lot. A whole lot of times. And she's answered each of them time and again. I agree as to the vagueness of the ratio in the book and as she has also said this is not a science, yet. I was lucky enough to fall within the weight range she wrote about and even I wrote in a few times to check on the dosage. Overall she did an excellent job writing her first book; it is very easy to read and is comfortable, too. Like meeting an old/new friend, I thought. I hope you decide to join the rest of us on the diet and that you keep coming back to let us know how it goes for you. If not, that will be your loss. Huntng4Os |

Thank you for providing balance. I am curt a lot of the time here, I apologize.
The reason the ratio is vague is when I was more specific with dosage by weight, say in 10-pound increments, then women got all flustered if they were off by 100 mg or so. The way brands come typically you can't get down to the 100 mg fineness. So if I had done that I still would be getting asked the dosage questions. |

Marrena has answered all of my questions from this board and another board plus private emails with great promtness and concern. One thing everyone should take into consideration is the traffic on this board has skyrocketed since the first of the year, which I think is great. But this means it takes more time to manage. The dosage thing is not that hard to figure, never go over the next weight range above our weight.
I have learned a lot from this board and from Marrena's book. Please keep up the great work! BBG |

I can sympathize with both sides of this discussion. On one hand I too get a little annoyed when people post questions without researching/searching previous posts. Before I ever considered posting on this or the newshe website where I originally heard of the diet, I scoured the pages of posts looking and hoping for answers to this embarrassing and private problem I have suffered with for years. I also purchased and read the book thoroughly. That said, even after I did all of that I also still had questions about my dosage and was so thankful that Marrena quickly responds to questions. Maybe it is the same question over and over again but to the person excited about hearing about the program, eager to start, and praying their hope won’t once again be dashed – the personal reassurance from Marrena or the support from other posters is so encouraging. I absolutely believe that Marrena’s purpose in writing the book and contributing to this forum is to help other women and I so appreciate her and all of the others. We need to stick together and support each other because we are fighting against a society and a medical community that is not taking us seriously. Lets all support each other and get the word out.

New York, I am sorry that you are so angry. Clearly, this situation is frustrating for you. However, I feel that you are unjust in your accusations toward Marrena.
This is a forum for everyone to express their thoughts. She is not obligated to answer any questions. Personally, I am amazed that this woman can be so devoted and passionate about something from which she is gaining nothing except satisfaction for helping others. If more people in this world were as concerned about helping others, it would be a better place. Too often, there are people with the WIIFM (what's in it for me) attitude, which is what I detect from you. BTW, I too get tired of seeing the dosage question on this board. It was stated in the book that it is not exact. I do not 'fit' in the dosage outlined either. I am 5'3" @ 125 lbs. It would have been really easy for me to ask Marrena what my dosage would be. Instead, I got out a calculator is figured it out myself! I'm not saying that anyone is wrong for asking, I'm just saying that as a single mother of three, I can understand that Marrena had a moment of being tired and politely stated a frustration. If we can post our frustrations, questions, anxieties, and successes, why can't she? |

Hi Everyone,
I've been holding back and just HAD to jump in here! I really don't want to take sides and be divisive, and I do think Marrena does a wonderful job, but I really understand why everyone asks so many questions about the fish oil. I wrote in well over a month ago and asked myself about it. I am a retired nurse and am certainly used to calculating dosages and I'm not lazy, but for the life of me I couldn't see the relationship between the weights and doses listed to extrapolate how to compute mine. Marrena has said many times that the fish oil is the key to the diet, so it seems far too important to make some sort of guess when people don't know enough. I was told to use 3/4 of the dose for 130lbs. (I'm 115). Then someone wrote in asking and their weight was 100. They were told the same thing. I just don't get the range. I do think if a range were listed with the comment that give or take a hundred mgs., it would cut down on alot of questions. I keep seeing the grid on the back of the pantyhose package. :-) Anyway, I think it's the fact that so much seems at stake and people want to be safe. I'm waiting...and waiting...for my testosterone level to come up, so the diet can possibly work. In the meantime I'm TRYING not to obsess about the fish oil! |

When I have given specific dosages in say ten-pound increments, everybody worried if they were taking the dosage for the person who weighed ten pounds more than them. The problem is that fish oil itself doesn't come in graduated doses. Generally women get capsules and I don't want women to feel like they have to buy a certain brand to get the exact right dosage for their weight.
That's why I kept the recommendations so general. Our bodies evolved eating this stuff, so there is a tolerance for variation. It's not like a pharmaceutical in that sense. I regret not writing a dosage for a 100-pound women. I had no idea there were so many 100-pound women out there! My cutoff is if a woman is closer to 100 pounds than 130 pounds, to go with the three-quarters dosage. In other words, pick the weight you are closest to, and take approximately the dosage recommended for that weight. If your brand is off by 100-200 mg that's okay (although I do recommend if a brand is 2 to 1 EPA to DHA rather than 1.5 to 1 EPA to DHA, to supplement with a DHA-rich brand). |

Thank You Marrena, that was very helpful. I just wanted to tell you that though I have not had a chance to experience results yet, I have told at least 20 people about your book and diet the past 6 weeks. These include friends, doctors, the guy at the GNC store...:-)
