Hello! I found the diet completely by accident while doing lots of online searching and desperately trying to figure out what I could do to bring my libido back. I'm 24, and for the past two years, something just seemed to have happened and my libido completely disappeared. When I was younger, I had sky-high libido and was always very sexual. I've just begun the diet, so I have high hopes!
Now on to my actual post. My husband and I practice the sympto-thermal method of Natural Family Planning. I quit taking hormonal BC pills about 8 months ago, and we have been using NFP ever since with no regrets whatsoever. Now that I have done more research, I wish I had never taken the stuff... but I digress. Anyhow, after having read the book, I am pretty excited about using the diet and specifically tailoring it to decrease my sex drive during the times of month when I am fertile.... or at least use the diet to somewhat offset my body's naturally increased sex drive during that time of the month. What is the best way to do this? Should I take less fish oil? Should I just eat the starchy carbs during that time of the month? (If I can't get my fix with sex, I can get my fix with the foods I can't eat the reast of the month, lol!) Anyone else out there have much experience with the diet and NFP? |

I'm an old hand at NFP. I know this sounds weird, but my advice to you is do not avoid sexual activity during fertile times. Just avoid intercourse, or if your religion allows, have intercourse with a barrier method like a diaphragm or cervical cap or condom. 69ing is good.
There is a biological imperative to bond with your man during your fertile time. Don't try to dissuade that. I think there is an important feminine subconscious drive that is satisfied by male attention during this time I know that probably sounds crazy, but that's my advice. |

We don't use barrier methods, so for now we'll either avoid sex or do other things while I'm fertile.
So, if I am going to try to curb/offset my sex drive at certain times, what is the best way to do that? I am getting the impression that I still need my full dose of fish oil, so do I just eat more carbs? |

I would recommend carbs and caffeine (and maybe a restraining device or something.
Be careful with those "other things"! I speak from experience. |
