I just finished reading your book and enjoyed it very much! I am looking forward to starting the diet (went to GNC today for my fish oil) - I already do Kegels and just got my Gyneflex in the mail, so I'll be starting that too.
As I was reading the book, you said that taking the doses of fish oil you recommend makes your skin oiler - not looking forward to that because I already have oily skin....my other problem is that, even though I'm almost 44, my skin breaks out all the time....is taking the fish oil going to make that worse?
Well, I already feel like I have "teenager" skin, so....oops! I almost said "so how much worse could it get?" That's a sure-fire way of attracting the worst just to show me! lol I'll just say I'll try it and see what happens.
I've been doing some research on my own about how the fish oil may affect my skin and breaking out. From what I've found, EPA helps to inhibit the production of androgens, which are hormones that influence the production of sebum in the hair follicle. Excess sebum production can lead to acne and other skin problems.
So, there is hope that this might actually help my skin! I'll keep you updated.
I'm still in the process of working my way up to the full dosage of fish oil you suggest and I am already noticing my mood has definitely improved (I went off antidepressants earlier this year and have been using a natural herbal supplement and have been under a lot of stress lately, I had been feeling that my depression was beginning to rear its ugly head - but I'm feeling so much better! ), and I've been noticing sexy thoughts entering my head more and more.....and my skin is clearing up!
My skin breaking out isn't just on my face - my neck, chest and upper back break out too and everything is beginning to clear up and other than starting to take the fish oil, I haven't been doing anything different, so I have to contribute it to that. I am going to keep slowly increasing my fish oil intake, but if I notice a change for the worse in my skin, I will probably cut back to a level that works for me.
Very interesting! I'd like to say that was a typical side effect, but I'm glad it's working out that way for you. Must be the anti-inflammatory properties.
Glad that the diet is also doing the expected thing with libido. Keep me posted!
I have oily skin as well and still get zits occasionally even though I'm 41. I've found that all the fish oil does tend to increase the oiliness a bit but if I wash my face morning and night and use a mild astringent, it keeps the zits at bay.
