Hi Marrena
I started the diet a week ago. I weigh 110 pounds and calculated that my daily fish oil intake should be about 1300 mg EPA/950 mg DHA. I've been taking Carlson fish oil. Each pill contains 300 mg EPA/200 mg DHA, and I take 4 or 5 of them a day. I've also made sure I'm getting the RDA of calcium, magnesium, zinc, and iron. In the last few days,I've started to have a lot of gas (including heart burn) and bloating. From reading other posts, this seems like it could be a side effect of the fish oil. I know you have recommended that some people start the diet slowly by gradually increasing fish oil intake over time. I'm eager to jump start my libido, which has been dying -- and is now officially dead -- over the last few years. So I'd rather not do the gradual approach. Will the gas and bloating decrease over time? Is there anything I can do to counteract it? Thanks, in advance, for your help. |

They should decrease over time, unless your stomach is unusually sensitive, in which case you might want to get a more concentrated brand.
But you aren't going to be having high libido if you've got lots of heartburn! There's a reason I say take it gradually. That's why the women who tried it for the Rachael Ray Show were complaining, I only had three weeks with them and put them on the full dose right away. So you may want to reconsider ramping up gradually. Certainly make sure to spread the dosage out during the day and take with food. If you can sit for a bit after taking them that might help too, rather than jumping up and doing something active right away. |
