my wife and i had our first child 16 months ago. she had some difficulties recovering from the delivery and since then has had virtually no clitoral sensation. she's obviously upset about this and has had no luck in getting advice from her ob-gyn. has anybody had similar experience or can somebody offer some suggestions. our sex life is on life support and we're desperate for help.

There are a number of things that could be causing it. Most likely it's depletion of her omega-3 fatty acids--having a baby is hard on the body's omega-3 fatty acid levels, some say this is the source of postpartum depression. My diet will help that, although if she's still nursing she should only take the highest quality fish oil.

The second possibility--pregnancy can obviously throw a woman's hormonal balance out of whack. She may now have low testosterone, it couldn't hurt to get bloodwork done.

Finally, she may have sustained some nerve damage during the delivery. If she literally is having difficulty feeling, not sexual feeling but actual feeling, like paralysis, there may be some damage. If the first two approaches don't bear fruit, she can see a urologist for women who can check for this.
